Magnetic resonance (NMR, ESR) and Masers/Lasers.
Magnetic Resonance
- NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance): Spin flips of nuclei in B-field. $$ \omega_L = \gamma B $$
- ESR (Electron Spin Resonance): Spin flips of unpaired electrons.
Lasers
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
- Population Inversion: More atoms in excited state than ground state.
- Pumping: Mechanism to achieve inversion (optical, electrical).
- Cavity: Feedback mechanism for amplification.
